  • Okay, I'm back (perhaps you didn't miss me but if you checked in earlier there where only some photos I had dumped in.  Chance had an unauthorized premature wake-up from his nap.)  Where were we?

Shaeleigh is officially five.  Kenn and I spent the second New Year's Eve in a row decorating the kitchen with balloons and streamers.  For the second year in a row I found it very difficult to find a balloon at 8:45 PM on New Years Eve.  We had balloons, but she wanted a "girlie" balloon for her birthday.  Although the answer is somewhat obvious, when she mentioned wanting a girlie balloon, I had to ask, and here's what I got:

    Me:  What's a girlie balloon?

Shaels:  A balloon like a heart or something.  Oval is okay.  I like any shape but not a boy balloon.

Me:  Mm.  What's a boy balloon?

Shaels:  Oh you know, like Thomas or penises or something...  like Spiderman or Hot Wheels.

Needless to say, I am glad I asked.  I did go with the heart shaped balloon, but if I hadn't asked I may have decided on one of the many penis balloons that we see everywhere we go.  hehehe.

Shaeleigh's cousins had an ice cream cake for their birthday and she thought it was delicious so she ordered the same from Kenn this year.

A boy and his hat.  No, that's not right....

And if the first dog won't wear it, just move on to the second.  (that's Pea-Eye)

The dogs got their Christmas presents on Shaeleigh's birthday.  They had been in a bit of hot water on Christmas after eating an entire loaf of Stollen (for the second year in a row!).  Then we forgot that we had hidden them in Shaeleigh's underwear drawer.  Well, "we" didn't hide them there but that's where they were hidden.

    big fan

Chance, big fan of My Little Pony.  It's not easy.  Shaeleigh doesn't want to share.  We convince her that it would be a good choice.   She conceeds and distructo breaks something within the first 5 minutes.  We put the set in Shaeleigh's room which I'm sure is some mythical playground Chance dreams about at night - a room full of teeny tiny plastic wonders and assorted breakable marvels.

And of course, a thousand "stuffy wuffs...."

    baby

And so Chance has learned from watching is sister, that dragging stuffed animals around is part of life.  Here he is hugging, "Baby"  his favorite rabbit.  It's funny that Shaeleigh, Kenn and I all call her stuffed animals "buddies" but Chance always refers to them as his "babies."  (He's a bit of a wild man but he really is a sweet little guy).  In the morning, Shaeleigh won't leave her bedroom without carrying as many as she can (and that doesn't mean 4 or 5, we're talking upwards of 15-20).  And so now when Chance wakes up, the first thing he'll say when you go in his room is, "Hi."  Then he says, "baby, baby, baby" and scrambles about his crib picking up as many as he can.  We are doomed.

Earlier in the week Shaeleigh decided that she would share her snack with me because I was "Old.  Really Old.  Really, really old."  Today she was showing me how wide she could open her mouth.  She then asked how wide I could open my mouth.  I gave it my best and she says, "Wow, I think I saw your heart."

I think she is going to be a scientist.  When I dropped her off the other day she started tell me about the experiments here class had been doing with water, ice and steam and she said, "Did you know there were three things?  There are solids, liquids and bonkies."  It took me minute.  (and for those who may not quite get it, you must remember that "bonkie" is the family word for fart).

So there you have it, words of wisdom from the Smitheroni house.  I am off to bed.  Forgive the typos and spelling errors, I didn't really proof-read anything.

  • Happy 5th to Shaeleigh! Alia will join her in April. And it still takes my breath away to see pictures of your daughter...looking so much like mine. Love the first photo the best!

Chance looks so fun! I miss my little boy!

Alia asked me this week where I got Cierra and Lance. That was fun. She still doesn't like the thought that she grew in someone elses tummy in China...and C & L got to grow in mine. Whoops!!
